COVID-19

PHILIPPIANS 4.6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

During times of crisis and uncertainty, the church speaks a message of hope and trust. In addition, we’re encouraged to reach out to God for peace. In these anxious days, we aim to be an example of faith, care, and prudence. We want to demonstrate to the world how our faith provides assurance against worry and fear. The current global situation with COVID-19 qualifies as a situation in which we’re tempted to be anxious and worry. Instead, we ought to reach out to God through prayer and petition; not get swept away by the current of worry and anxiety.

Further, as a church, God calls us to offer care and support to those impacted by the virus. If you have been affected, or know someone who has, reach out to us to discuss potential solutions. For instance, if you need meals, groceries, or supplies, or you know someone in need of these items, we are keen to assist. Or, if you need someone to meet and pray with, we are keen to help.

Lastly, while the likelihood of being affected remains low, we still will exercise prudence. Like you, the Central Auckland Church will stay informed and updated. We’ll follow the measures implemented and suggested by New Zealand as they guide us with their leadership. Currently, at our services we’re taking precautionary measures to increase personal hygiene. In the event we decide or are enforced to stop gathering publicly, our membership will meet online.

In the meantime, if you feel unwell, please stay at home and join us online. Let’s continue to bring our prayers and petitions to God and allow his peace to guard our hearts and minds.
